Hannes Snellman Advises Iberdrola in the Acquisition of Caruna

Tall electricity transmission towers and power lines stretch across a forested hillside under a partly cloudy sky. Sunlight highlights the wires and some tree tops, while much of the forest remains in shadow.

Hannes Snellman is advising Iberdrola as Finnish counsel in the acquisition of a majority stake in Caruna.

As the country’s largest electricity distribution operator, Caruna serves one and a half million people – more than 20% of the Finnish population. Completion of the acquisition is expected in the first quarter of 2027, subject to obtaining customary regulatory approvals for this type of transaction.

Hannes Snellman’s advisory team was led by Thomas Landell, Elisa Panula, and Rabbe Sittnikow. The team also comprised Jenny Karlsson, Vilma Tuononen, Saara Järvelä, Sofia Tyykiluoto, Mikael Wood, Mikael Sandkulla, Axel Rosengren, Elina Uitto, and Silja Piironen (Real Assets), Johan Kontio and Julia Tabell (M&A), Mikko Huimala, Minna Siekkinen, and Niko Haarahiltunen (Competition & Regulatory), Roosa Kurppa and Tommi Moilanen (Employment), Antti Järvikare (Finance), Joel Ettanen and Martta Salmi-Pekkala (IP & Technology), and Legal Assistants Veera Aro and Anniina Laakso.
