Ricardo practices in the Dispute Resolution Group with a special focus on complex international arbitration proceedings. He currently represents clients in commercial and investment arbitration proceedings before several major arbitral institutions and ad hoc proceedings across a variety of industry sectors, such as energy and infrastructure, engineering and machinery, and construction. Moreover, he also advises clients on contentious questions regarding trade and compliance and especially EU sanctions regimes.

Ricardo also advises clients on enforcement proceedings and is active in Hannes Snellman’s ESG Group.

In addition to his experience as counsel, he has also acted as an arbitrator in an international dispute under the FAI Rules and also as a tribunal secretary. Ricardo regularly speaks at conferences and seminars on dispute resolution, advocacy or career topics.

Hannes Snellman is advising KONE Corporation on its proposed combination with TK Elevator (TKE), a global elevator and escalator leader, in a cash-and-share transaction valuing TKE at approximately EUR 29.4 billion. With its global reach, the transaction is the largest ever announced by a Finnish company. Upon completion, the combined company would become the world’s largest elevator manufacturer, shaping the future of the global elevator and escalator industry.

Hannes Snellman successfully represented Outokumpu Corporation in an international ICC arbitration between Fennovoima Oy and Rosatom entities where RAOS Project Oy sought to join Outokumpu in 2023. The Arbitral Tribunal accepted Outokumpu’s position denying jurisdiction over Outokumpu and ending the arbitration with respect to Outokumpu.

In January 2023, RAOS Project filed a request to join Outokumpu in existing ICC arbitration proceedings, which related to the termination of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract between Fennovoima and RAOS Project regarding the Hanhikivi nuclear power plant. In February 2025, the Arbitral Tribunal confirmed that it did not have jurisdiction to adjudicate the claims brought by RAOS Project and JSC Rusatom Energy International (JSC REIN) against Outokumpu.
