Meet Our Team at the Helsinki International Arbitration Day 2025

Ricardo Gomes, Minja Jantunen, Ella Mäkijärvi, and Viktor Saavola from Hannes Snellman’s Dispute Resolution Practice will be attending the Helsinki International Arbitration Day 2025 on 16 May 2025.

Hannes Snellman is once again a proud sponsor of the Helsinki International Arbitration Day, organised by the Finland Arbitration Institute (FAI). Helsinki International Arbitration Day is a leading arbitration conference in the Nordics. This year, the event will delve into recent legislative reforms across Europe, including Finland, and the use of AI and digital tools in arbitration. Additionally, the program will explore how advocacy in arbitration has evolved over the years, with insights from platforms like the Vis Moot, as well as the role of technology in shaping advocacy.

Meet our team

Ricardo Gomes works as a senior associate at Hannes Snellman, and his practice focuses on complex international arbitration proceedings. He currently represents clients in commercial and investment arbitration proceedings before several major arbitral institutions and ad hoc proceedings across a variety of industry sectors. Moreover, he also advises clients on contentious questions regarding trade and compliance and especially EU sanctions regimes. Ricardo has also acted as an arbitrator in an international dispute under the FAI Rules and as a tribunal secretary.

Minja Jantunen works as a senior associate at Hannes Snellman, and in her practice, she advises domestic and international clients especially in the fields of investigations, domestic litigation, international and domestic arbitration, criminal proceedings, employment law-related disputes, and post M&A disputes. Minja represents clients regularly in domestic and international arbitrations. She has also acted as an administrative secretary in institutional arbitration proceedings.

Ella Mäkijärvi works as a senior associate at Hannes Snellman, and in her practice, she advises clients on business disputes, including domestic and international arbitration, commercial litigation before state courts, settlement negotiations, and mediation. Ella has experience in complex and high-stakes international arbitration and litigation proceedings. She has acted as counsel in arbitrations administered under major institutional rules (including FAI, SCC, and ICC). Ella is also a member of the Board of the Young Arbitration Club Finland.

Viktor Saavola works as a senior associate at Hannes Snellman, and in his practice, he advises domestic and international clients in their business disputes and regulatory investigations, representing clients in commercial disputes in both national courts and arbitral tribunals, while also providing general conflict management advice. He has experience in project delivery and construction related disputes and shareholder disputes. In addition to representing clients in proceedings, Viktor has acted as an administrative secretary in both ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings.
