Meet Our Team at the Nordic Arbitration Day on 1–2 May 2025

Ricardo Gomes and Ella Mäkijärvi from Hannes Snellman’s Dispute Resolution Practice will be attending the Nordic Arbitration Day held in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 1–2 May 2025. Ella will also be taking part in a panel discussion addressing the topic of “The Alpha to Omega of an Arbitration”, dealing with war stories and real-life experiences covering all stages of the arbitration process.

The Nordic Arbitration Day (NAD) is a full-day arbitration conference organised by Young Arbitration Practitioners Iceland in collaboration with the young arbitration associations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.

Ricardo Gomes works as a senior associate at Hannes Snellman, and his practice focuses on complex international arbitration proceedings. He currently represents clients in commercial and investment arbitration proceedings before several major arbitral institutions and ad hoc proceedings across a variety of industry sectors. Ricardo has also acted as an arbitrator in an international dispute under the FAI Rules and also as a tribunal secretary.

Ella Mäkijärvi works as a senior associate at Hannes Snellman, and in her practice, she advises clients on business disputes, including domestic and international arbitration, commercial litigation before state courts, settlement negotiations, and mediation. Ella has experience in complex and high-stakes international arbitration and litigation proceedings. She has acted as counsel in arbitrations administered under major institutional rules (including FAI, SCC, and ICC). Ella is also a member of the Board of the Young Arbitration Club Finland.
