In the chapter, our experts review the law and practice within space law in Finland, as well as the recent trends and developments of the Finnish space sector in general. Some of the topics discussed include data protection and cybersecurity aspects of the space industry, the taxation and environmental impact of space activities, and dispute resolution within the space sector.

Finland has become a significant participant in the global space economy. A reform of the national space licensing framework is advancing through Government, a new EU-wide regulatory tool has been proposed, and Finnish space companies have continued to attract record investment. Together, these developments are reshaping the legal and commercial environment for every participant in Finland’s space ecosystem from emerging new space start-ups to established operators and public sector clients.
