Tommi Kovero Awarded the Prize of the Best Master’s Thesis 2020 by the Finnish Competition Law Association

Associate Tommi Kovero has been awarded the prize of the best master’s thesis 2020 by the Finnish Competition Law Association. The topic of his award-winning thesis was “Horizontal Mergers’ Innovation Effects as Non-Coordinated Effects in EU Merger Control”. Tommi’s thesis examines how horizontal mergers’ innovation stifling effects are becoming under increased scrutiny in the European Commission’s merger control investigations. In his thesis, Tommi argues how the innovation effects’ assessment in EU merger control is likely to evolve in the future and why the economic theory employed in recent investigations is problematic from a legal standpoint.
