Legal Update | New Subsidy Scheme for Electricity Produced from Renewable Energy Sources

On 23 May 2018, the Finnish Parliament voted to approve the Government Bill 175/2017 amending the Act on Subsidies for Electricity Produced from Renewable Energy Sources. By approving the bill, the Parliament took a step towards adopting a new tender scheme for renewable energy subsidies. The new subsidy scheme, applicable to wind power, biogas, woodchips, wood fuel, as well as solar power and wave power investments, would be technology-neutral and it would be based on a competitive tender process, mixing elements of a fixed and a sliding premium.
