The Two-Headed Eagle of Russia: Hidden Sanctions for Western Companies and Real Improvements to the Investment Climate
Luke Wochensky, Counsel, Hannes Snellman (Moscow)
Looking both East and West, Russia’s coat of arms serves as a powerful symbol for the country’s internal battle between Europe and Asia as well as conservative ideology and progression. Russia’s legal system is no stranger to the country’s often contradictory trajectories and in a new geopolitical and economic environment this is more apparent than ever. While headlines abound (such as personal data localization requirements), real improvements, such as the latest amendments to the Russian Civil Code, have given foreign businesses a number of new tools to protect their investments. We hope that this overview of the most important amendments, trends, and changes in practice of Russian law will lead to a vibrant round table and open discussion.

Round Table: Which Head is Stronger? An Expert Discussion on the Prospects of Nordic Business in Russia
Moderator: Victoria Goldman, Managing Partner Russia, Hannes Snellman
The Russian economy and geopolitical situation has undoubtedly changed business in Russia, but where there is change there are opportunities. How can Western business find the opportunities? What do you need to know before investing or working in Russia? If you are working in Russia, what has changed which you should consider to avoid new risks?

Our panel of experts with long term experience in Russia will discuss these and other issues in an open round table format.

A buffet will be served after the presentations and round table discussion at 4:30 p.m.

Please register to the conference latest on 24 September 2015:
