7 November 2011

The partners of Hannes Snellman have elected Richard Åkerman as the new Managing Partner in Stockholm, effective 1 January 2012. He will succeed Fredrik von Baumgarten, who has been Managing Partner at Hannes Snellman Stockholm since the opening of the office in 2008. Fredrik will return to full time client work as a member of the firm’s Private M&A group.

Richard also joined the firm in 2008 and is currently Head of Private M&A.

Johan Aalto, Hannes Snellman’s Senior Partner, says:

“The development of the Hannes Snellman Stockholm office over the last three years from scratch to one of the top law firms in the largest domestic market in the Nordics, is not only an incredible achievement but is almost unprecedented in the history of law firms opening new offices abroad. In this successful building up-phase Fredrik’s visionary input has been instrumental. On behalf of all my colleagues, I would like to thank Fredrik for his enthusiastic leadership as Managing Partner in Stockholm. Fredrik holds a solid position as a Tier 1 M&A and PE lawyer on the Swedish market and will have a lot to contribute to the clients of the firm.

The Stockholm office with Richard as the Managing Partner will continue to play a very important role in developing Hannes Snellman into the leading Nordic law firm in Transactions and Dispute Resolution.”

Richard Åkerman says:

“I am honoured to have been elected to serve as Hannes Snellman Stockholm’s next Managing Partner. With considerable support by my partners, associates and staff, I look forward to spend substantial time and efforts on developing a fantastic law firm for the next three years as Managing Partner. I am thrilled by what we have achieved, with Fredrik as our Managing Partner, during our first three years in Stockholm. This journey will continue.”
