Anna-Maria Tamminen selected as new co-Chair of Young International Arbitration Group attached to LCIA

23 September 2013

Anna-Maria Tamminen, a Senior Associate in our Disputes Resolution practice has been selected as one of the four new co-Chairs of Young International Arbitration Group attached to London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) for a three-year term.

The LCIA is one of the world’s leading international institutions for commercial dispute resolution. The LCIA provides efficient, flexible and impartial administration of arbitration and other ADR proceedings, regardless of location, and under any system of law. The international nature of the LCIA’s services is reflected in the fact that, typically, over 80% of parties in pending LCIA cases are not of English nationality.

The LCIA has access to the most eminent and experienced arbitrators, mediators and experts from many jurisdictions, and with the widest range of expertise. The LCIA's dispute resolution services are available to all contracting parties, without any membership requirements.

Established in 1997, the Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) is an LCIA sponsored association for practitioners, students and younger members of the arbitration community.

YIAG aims to promote the understanding and use of international arbitration law and practice by providing opportunities for its members to exchange views on topical issues in international commercial arbitration.

Currently, there are over 5000 members from more than 142 countries.

Anna-Maria’s selection as a co-Chair is a great honor to both her and Hannes Snellman, and recognition of her international experience and enthusiasm in promoting arbitration and developing the skills of the younger generation of arbitration practitioners. As a co-Chair Anna-Maria hopes to uphold the traditions of YIAG and to further develop YIAG as an organization for young practitioners. Anna-Maria is the first Nordic lawyer to be elected co-Chair of YIAG and in her role she hopes to especially serve young practitioners in regional markets and practices. In addition to her position as LCIA YIAG co-Chair, Anna-Maria is currently Chair of the Young Arbitration Club Finland.

Anna-Maria is very excited about this new opportunity and is happy to hear from you with regard to how YIAG could better serve its membership.
