Trainee Programmes

As Office Support Trainee your job will be to take care of practical matters involved with the daily “running” of the office, e.g. post-room, delivering mail and shipments, ordering office products, copying and filling stocks, helping with catering and organizing events. We value service-mindedness, strong commitment and eagerness to learn. Our Office Support programme usually runs three times a year, starting in May, September and October. All periods are fixed-term and the work is part-time during semester to accommodate your studies and exams. We consider each candidate individually and the working hours will always be agreed on separately. An ideal candidate is a first or second year law student. You can get to know to the head of our Office Support Team Kai Liimatainen here.

KM trainees support the firm’s Knowledge Management Team. Their tasks include managing the library collections, following news and case law, conducting information searches for our lawyers, compiling research materials, etc. This position requires precision and a basic knowledge of law. An ideal KM trainee candidate would be a third- or fourth-year law student.

KM trainees work part-time: typically 2-3 days per week during semester, more during the initial orientation period, and generally full-time for most of the summer. The duration of the employment and working hours will always be agreed on separately, and we also offer the possibility to take a vacation during the summer period. However, the preferred duration of the traineeship is 12 months.

Our KM trainee programmes usually start in January, May, and September and last for a year. Throughout the year, we usually have six KM trainees.

As an Associate Trainee you will have an outstanding opportunity to join our firm for a fixed four-month period to familiarise yourself with the versatile profession of an attorney. You will work full-time in one of our practice groups: M&A, Finance, Real Estate, Competition and ProcurementEmployment, Tax, Dispute Resolution, IP & Technology, or Environment & Natural Resources. The work description for an Associate Trainee is similar to that of a newly qualified associate lawyer and you will, for example, carry out research, gather information and prepare draft documentation. You will be tutored by an associate who will both guide you in your work and introduce you to the Hannes Snellman way of work.

We value ambitious law students with a genuine interest in business law, drive and eagerness to learn. An ideal candidate is a law student who has completed at least 150 study credits before applying. In order to qualify, you must also be fluent in English and Finnish.

Our Associate Trainee programmes start in January, May and September. The application period for the spring and summer programmes usually starts in August, and for the autumn programme in March. Please note that applicants will be interviewed on a rolling basis throughout the recruitment process and, therefore, we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible.

Our Thesis Trainees are offered the opportunity to write their thesis in an atmosphere of expertise and professionalism. You will be supervised by an experienced lawyer who will also tutor you in your thesis writing. You are welcome to participate in applicable introductory training programme, and we will provide you with the technical equipment required. You are more than welcome to participate also at our Hannes Academy lectures as well as to join the Avocados activities club. We value creative and analytical thinking as well as strong commitment and eagerness to learn.

The duration of the trainee period is approximately three months. We accept applications on a continuous basis and consider each candidate individually. Interested in thesis tips? Visit here!

We will offer you a great learning opportunity and highly valued work experience in one of the top Nordic law firms. We will provide you comprehensive orientation in order to ensure that you succeed in your tasks and get the most out of your internship. In addition, you will be guided by an experienced tutor during your internship. We value service-mindedness, excellent IT skills, and fluency in Finnish and English.
