The Walter and Andrée de Nottbeck Foundation

The Walter and Andrée de Nottbeck Foundation was established in 1970 by Walter and Andrée de Nottbeck. The Foundation supports environmental research in the Baltic Sea, mainly at the Tvärminne Zoological Station of the University of Helsinki. The Foundation provides grants for postdoctoral scientists and postgraduate students as well as grants for students for their M. Sc. theses annually in the region of EUR 500,000. The Foundation also supports research projects, the recently established senior research fellow scheme, and a new scheme to strengthen international collaboration. In order to strengthen and co-ordinate the research sponsored by the Foundation, the Foundation has donated funds to the University of Helsinki for a professorship at the Tvärminne Zoological Station.

Hannes Snellman has been engaged in the Foundation since its establishment by providing legal and governance support, and our lawyers have continuously acted as board members. Our partner Henrik Mattson currently serves as the vice-chairman of the Foundation. More information on the Foundation is available at its website
