History

The firm was founded by Hannes Snellman in Helsinki in 1909. After the Second World War the firm started to grow. Hans G. Snellman, Hannes Snellman’s son, then took over and the firm attracted many family-owned and international, especially Nordic, companies as its clients. Many of these relationships have continued throughout the generations up until the present day.

Johan G. Snellman, Hans G. Snellman’s son, joined the firm in the 1960s, and went on to become a partner and later an of counsel. Johan no longer practices law regularly but he still pays an occasional visit to the office.

In 2006, Hannes Snellman expanded into Russia, where our operation leans on some 20 years of experience of providing assistance to clients to help them navigate the legal field and to get it done the right way in Russia.

In 2008, Hannes Snellman expanded into Sweden. Our office in Stockholm has quickly grown into a key player in the Nordic financial centre with the capacity and specialist know-how to handle any demanding local or cross-border transactions or disputes.
